Evelyn! one of the most touching movies I have watched. it is a heart-warming story of an Irish father who just wants his children back. Thought it has a simple plot, the emotions evoked in this movie is... is. ah ya! you just have to cry or not your a heartless evil person.
the story goes like this: there are the parents (desmond and stupid mother Doyle) and their 3 children (Maurice, Dermot and Evelyn Doyle). the day after Christmas, the mother of the Doyle family leaves them for another man. The father being an alcoholic and a temp obviously cannot provide well for the family. therefore the court ordered his children to be taken away from him and put into a Catholic church-run orphanage home until Mr Doyle can start earning a steady pay and show the court that he can raise his 3 children on his own. His 2 boys are sent to a boys orphanage and his daughter is sent to a girls orphanage.
while his children are gone, Mr Doyle tries his best to earn as much as he can by taking up multiple jobs aound the clock. with the help of his father (Henry Doyle), one of his jobs is at a bar as a singer and his father as an instrumentalist. after earning enough money to file a law suit, Desmond Doyle seek the help of a law firm to help him. Unfortunately, he failed at his 1st attempt in court and his children remained in their orpahanges. but Desmond did not give up in his pursuit of his children and pressed on with the results of success in the end! In 1 year, his children are returned to him and he had completed his family. that was how much he was willing to go for his pursuit of happiness.
this is the kind of movie that i would put down on my "must watch" list of movies. will you? =)
